Actually, I didn't understand this and would welcome Mr Bryant to come make a comment here. Did he have a certain business in mind? All businesses? If not, who would determine who gets the tax abatement? Since most, if not all, buildings downtown are already gettng a tax break from being historical, wouldn't more abatements cut down the amount of money that the city is able to collect? Is it actually 4b's job to do tax abatements or would that rather be the job of town council?

It was Darrell Best who suggested tax abatements but maybe Mr Bryant was thinking of some other way to get money to business, and almost the same questions apply. I thought it was the job of the people who wanted to GET 4b money to write up a detailed business plan and come present to the GREDC, which could then, publicly, decide if a project was worthy. No?
