I recently went through the online Open Government training put on by the Attorney General for free on their web site and decided to find out how many of the existing elected Glen Rose City Council members were in compliance with the law. According to the Attorney General site, effective January 1 2006 all elected and appointed public officials are required to receive training in Texas open government laws. For those that were elected before 1/1/2006 they had until 1/1/2007 to complete the training and all newly elected officials after 1/1/2006 have 90 days within which to complete the training so no one has any excuses at this point.
