Sheesh. I saw this via Jobsanger, who I agree with 100 percent.  Politex pointed out that, despite the fact that there are 7 Democratic  candidates running for governor, PUBLIC TELEVISION station KERA has decided that only two of them get to actually put their feet inside the hallowed door of the PUBLIC television station for the PUBLIC to see and make a choice. How nice that they have decided for us who is worthy of our attention. Here was their criteria- You'll notice that although the State of Texas has some legal requirements (and I completely agree that any candidate has to be legally qualified) PUBLIC TELEVISION KERA has laid on some extra worthiness standards of their own. Who do they think they are? Cable? I've seen that kind of crap on MSNBC, where they cut out Dennis Kucinich for one of their debates. But people pay to watch those stations and they aren't (supposedly) public.

I can't even begin to describe how odious this is. I'm already hugely offended over the Supreme Court recent decision that codifies that the rich and monied corporations who want to buy votes will be able to exercise their free speech) as if they were persons the same as you and me. I feel like it's open season on anyone who is going to watch any type of entertainment, and will have to make extra efforts to try to avoid the onslaught.

But I do like to think that a public television station would use the same standards that the state of Texas does and not add their own hoity-toit requirements. As Ted of jobsanger said.

I find this to be a rather shocking development -- a public television station that thinks it knows better than the voters who should be elected governor of Texas. There are seven people who have paid their fees and will be on the statewide Democratic primary ballot in the race for governor. But the Dallas public television station (KERA) has decided that only two of them are worthy of support and votes.

Yup. So, what does this mean? Since apparently others know so much better than us, we CANNOT GET GOOD INFORMATION FROM KERA. Cannot. I won't be watching. Instead I will try to find news sources that cover everybody instead of trying to make all political races into *horse races*. It will be tough. But otherwise, it's not fair. And it demeans KERA to be doing this.
