He says that 85 percent of Texans won't have enough water in case of a severe drought. I notice that some of the changes being talked about in the state water plan are more reservoirs, more pipelines (wonder if anything to do with T Boone Picken's MESA) , etc. For us, we are slowly ramping up on cistern rainwater conservation methods. Particularly with all the rain we've had, it's been quite enough to water all the chickens regularly. And I think if we did some rainwater conservation from the roof of the barn, it would probably also be enough for the cows. Even if Somervell County ends up putting a pipeline in every yard and property all over the county, it wouldn't address the issue of drought. And, seems like the more easy it it to get water, the more development might take place, with more people moving in, etc and using MORE water.
