Darren Yancy Running Against Chet Edwards? Nope. Not Anymore. Now It's Kip Averitt (Somervell County)

Why's he changing his mind?  Counting chickens before they were hatched?

XTO, which has the authority to use eminent domain to seize land for pipelines, initially offered Yancy $30,000 for part of his property — a cobbling together of residential and agricultural land that has horses, cattle, chickens, a litter of Australian Shepherd puppies and a pond stocked with catfish. He said he was awarded $480,000 during a hearing, but that figure is being appealed and won’t be ruled on until a March 23 court date, a few weeks after the GOP primaries.

So. XTO offered him $30,000 for taking part of his 17 acres for a pipeline. Yancy can't use income from his 4 business ventures for his run for office, has to give up stake in them. And he must not have liked the $30,000 because he contested it, apparently, and was awarded $480,000 in a hearing, which now XTO is contesting. He was planning to use equity from his home for a run, not sure why that has anything to do with the pipeline eminent domain.

What's interesting in this is that since Darren Yancy is going to run for state office instead of federal, he gets to keep his stakes in these various business ventures that involve 2 insurance companies, consulting and renewable energy technology businesses. I wonder why this would be considered taboo at a federal level but not at the state level?

I noticed in the article that Yancy doesn't like Kip Averitt's position on Chips, which is one main position I really like of Kip Averitt's. Another person commented that they didn't think Averitt had made enough of an effort to communicate with residents of the county. I don't agree with that one, Kip Averitt just held town halls in every one of the counties in his Senate District 22. What is amusing is that now these desperate folks, who were trying to paint Chet Edwards as a liberal, are trying to do the same thing with Republican Kip Averitt. Hah, that's a joke. It was a joke with Edwards and it is a joke with Averitt. Think Democrats voted Mr Averitt in? Please.

US House Ethics Rules require divestment in any fiduciary contracts to hold office. It is targeted at lawyers, realtors, and insurance agents. Contracts between insurance agents and companies are fiduciary contracts. What that meant was, if successful, a sale in our insurance agencies. The other companies mentioned are start up and have yet to produce a dime, mainly because I have not been working on them with the campaign. Our insurance business has been down with the economy and the loss of clients going out of business. Instead of replacing lost revenue, I have been on the campaign trail. If and when the time came to sell, we were going to take a hit in the sale. We have bills to pay like anyone else and thus the reason we would have had to had our equity from our home to make any move to DC realistic. Our home value is squat now with this new pipeline and would have to be paid off to move. Home in the DC suburbs are none too cheap as well.

The rules with the Texas Ethics Commission allow you to keep your business ventures, job, or however your produce income. It only makes sense when you think atbout it -
