Chet Edwards Did Pre-Plan His Visit to Glen Rose ISD In Plenty of Time to Have Also Had a Town Hall Meeting

Readers know that I have wondered why Chet Edwards showed up on Glen Rose on August 17 2009, with no notice to anyone, nor notification in the newspapers, etc, to meet with two different groups of people, including an unannounced visit to the high school,  and also hold a press conference with the 2 newspapers. I have long contended that if he has enough time to come to town for that, then he had enough time to hold a town hall meeting and invite EVERYONE to come. The only reason that might be an issue would be if he actually were here only on the spur of the moment and had no time or opportunity to put a notice in the paper. But that's not the case.

Open Records Request from GRISD re: Chet Edwards.

As you can see from this request,  it appears that at least before July 28 2009 Victoria Sykes made arrangements with Dianne Habluetzel to have Mr Edwards attend the week-before-school-starts convocation. Had to definitely have been initiated by Sykes and definitely before July 28, 2009 since the email from DH has already made the arrangements for Edwards. Apparently none of the teachers were told that he was to attend.

My point is this. If Edwards can find time to come to town and spend the morning and can make arrangements at least 2-3 weeks in advance, then he should have ensured that the public was to be invited as well or spent time inviting all to attend. Ithought the telephone town hall was a disaster, did like the regional town hall, but still think he should come to each county individually for EVERYONE in that county, with plenty of notice, at least ONCE a year.
