After standing and recording the entire event (video/audio will be posted later) I think some initial thoughts are in order on what Chet Edwards said... - Chet Edwards would not commit to voting for or against the current bill or any other version that may arise saying that he wanted to listen to the people before making any decision.
- Chet Edwards is for removing pre-existing conditions.
- Chet Edwards wants the bill to be paid for and he understands where some, but not all, of that money is coming from.
- Chet Edwards understands that removing Medicaid and/or Medicare would cripple hospitals across the district and the state.
Some perceptions... - Based on a lot of the questions and rude shouting, you can tell the right-wing radio has been tuned into quite often in this area.
- It sounded like a large percentage the questions and tone were against government healthcare.
- The euthanasia question came up. I tell folks, you find a politician that would be for killing off grandma and that sort of kills the death camps and euthanasia discussion because a politician would never vote to kill grandma. Like Chet Edwards said, "that doesn't pass the common sense test". OMG, Chet Edwards and I agree on something
 - A lot of hate for 'Pelosi' here, for those that think Chet always votes with Pelosi...please check his voting record because when Bush was in office I was always calling his office complaining about him voting with Bush. Do your homework on how he has voted in the past decade before making this claim would be my advice.
- There were two large wall signs on the wall about GOD...in the school....in the auditorium we were in, is this even legal?
- Chet Edwards media handlers treat bloggers like red-headed step children. FIrst telling me I could not be in a spot because it was a fire hazzard, then allowing the TV people to go there. Secondarily when they had an after-meeting with the media, they only allowed tv/print/radio but NO bloggers allowed because "that's the way it has always been" was the response from the representative.
- I reminded Victoria Sykes twice throughout the evening (once when she was getting in her car) that we in Somervell County would like Chet to have a town hall right here in Glen Rose...like we have been asking for the past few years.

If a school is getting tax money or any public funds of any kind, yes people are allowed to get involved. If the desire is to have no public interference then I would suggest enrolling kids in a private school where no public funds are used to endorse a particular religious cult. As we tell people who molest children and say the child said it was ok, kids are not old enough to make those decisions.

@Diana? Huh? Who tried to take away the pledge of allegiance? Ever since I have been in school there has always been a pledge and I'm not aware of anyone trying to take it away. And who stops anyone from praying in school?

I wish Americans would just calm down. How one worships or doesn't worship God is a very private thing and school really isn't the venue for this. Our schools have enough on their plates. Respectfulness of others, whether or not you agree, is never a mistake. We are all far more alike than different. We can't solve our problems if we're so polarized that discussion is impossible. No one is trying to take anyone's God away from them or their children.
