I have not seen the movie that at least part of this may be based on, which is Tokyo Story. But I can't say enough about the way the movie was filmed, the pacing, the scenery and the stories about the old couple, and their children. The movie starts out with a father who is steeped in routine, and whose wife is told by doctors that he is dying (he doesn't know). I wont' say any more about the plot except that the dancing was amazing and I found myself weeping in the finale.

If you want to watch a touching movie with a wonderful plot that unfolds like a flower, but is not a shmaltzy sugary tidbit, this is the one. Let me know what you think of it.
