I was, as readers know, down at the NAIS (National Animal Identification System) "Listening Tour* in Austin last Wednesday, so missed the school board meeting. We like to attend when we can for a lot of reasons. I heard that Joelle Ogletree spoke in citizen comments at the meeting about a letter that she had gotten from open records regarding her situation. I asked her for the letter and post it herein, along with a snippet of audio from the meeting. Short MP3
It is my understanding that a member or members of this board have said that no one has asked that you do what is right concerning me. My husband previously referenced two letters the district received regarding this that we were aware of.
In a recent open records request, I received additional communication that I did not receive through my first request. One of those letters is what I would like to share with you this evening.
Now, I just want to say a few things. Ms Ogletree has had this case disrupting her life for over six years. SIX YEARS. I can't even imagine it. The last I looked GRISD and their attorneys went for a summary judgment to get the civil case Ogletree has against them dismissed, and they got it. Before that point, she had finally managed to get a secured court date to get her case heard, as you might think would happen in this great country of ours; that was supposed to be in April. But instead, she then had to appeal the decision of Judge Wayne Bridewell, whose decision, incidentally, the last time regarding her was overturned by the court of appeals. Time chugs on and eventually she will get her day in court. I hope for her sake that is soon.
I would just like to say I know the Ogletree family and they are wonderful...I would not change tables at a restaurant. In fact I would be more than happy to have lunch with them. I think some adults forgot what it was like to grow up in High School. Who are we really going to trust ..High School Teacher or High school Guys...
