I read something like this and it shows me how much the world has changed. When I was a kid, we had cap guns with those long strings of caps that you could also take a hammer to on your driveway and make bang. We (gasp) ran around and POINTED THOSE TOY GUNS AT OTHER PEOPLE and said "I'm going to kill you" and BANG and stuff. When I was about 10 years old, I had a Sekidan bb gun. A number of us ran around the neighborhood and played fort-its' really a wonder we didn't put out eyes, but we were all aware of watching out for bb guns. That one had a little compartment on top that you could pour your bbs into and then shoot with them. The next time I ever handled a gun was when I was 16 and this boy I liked showed me how to use a rifle to shoot tin cans off a fence. I never shot an animal and in fact, never have, but I did get some training on how to propertly shoot a gun. I'm not a gun collector or gun lover and don't think people should be shot (or tasered either for that matter). In other words, playing with cap guns when I was kid didn't make me a terrorist or ruin me for life. So when I read about some CHILD who thoughtlessly brought a toy gun he bought at the store to school (he is NOT an adult, again, he is a 10 year old CHILD), I thought about how many times I could potentially have been put in jail had the same standards been used back then as now. And it reminds me that I don't know how many times as a kid I said I'm Killing You! or something like that ... and it meant NOTHING because we were all playacting. What must it be like now for kids?
