but Bush and his administration USED those harsh interrogation tactics (let's just call it torture, shall we!) IN ORDER to try to gin up some justifcation for Bush's loser war.

"Cheney's and Rumsfeld's people were told repeatedly, by CIA . . . and by others, that there wasn't any reliable intelligence that pointed to operational ties between bin Laden and Saddam, and that no such ties were likely because the two were fundamentally enemies, not allies."

Senior administration officials, however, "blew that off and kept insisting that we'd overlooked something, that the interrogators weren't pushing hard enough, that there had to be something more we could do to get that information," he said.

There was a video that you may remember, that suggested he took responsibility for it. However, there is a lot of argument that this video was faked (easy to do in these technological times). However, Israel 'warned' us many months before that bin Laden was going to attack the U.S. Coincidentally, five Israelis were positioned across the river from the twin towers that day with cameras in hand to record the destruction. It was noted these men were celebrating, laughing and jumping up and down. They were reported to the authorities as suspicious and arrested. These former Israeli soldiers were eventually deported, which is what the FBI typically does when they catch Israeli spies in our country (apparently this is an on-going problem for the FBI). Also curious is how Cheney announced immediately that same day that it was bin Laden who was responsibile for 9/11. The plan to launch a preemptive attack on Iraq was originally laid out in a paper written in the early 90's by Paul Wolfowitz, Undersecretary of Defense. Our invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism, 9/11 or some imagined threat to the U.S. from Saddam Hussein.

2 - Anon   22 Apr 2009 @ 7:56:58 PM  The former Cheney Administration is continuing to be a problem. What are we going to do about about this problem? I hope the current administration will do something to fix this problem.

This is not about anti-Semitism. It's about the inappropriate influence by a foreign government within our country. I truly do believe that Israel is the real reason our government invaded Iraq. It was the only benefactor to this reckless maneuver.

4 - salon   22 Apr 2009 @ 10:10:42 PM  Have you been reading about Jane Harman and her involvement with AIPAC? From Anti-War.com https://original.antiwar.com/justin/2009/04/21/harmanic-convergence/ Harman was caught on tape with a "suspected Israeli agent," according to Congressional Quarterly, agreeing to intervene with the U.S. Justice Department and the White House to get the espionage charges against two AIPAC employees reduced. In return, the Israeli agent promised AIPAC would put pressure on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to get Harman appointed head of the House intelligence committee. This pressure included having Haim Saban

5 - humanbeing   22 Apr 2009 @ 10:39:35 PM  AIPAC is considered by some to be THE most powerful 'lobby' in our country. I believe it and was not surprised by the headlines today concerning Jane Harman. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Wake up, America, please. I want my country back.
