I see that that guy on trial for murder, Robert Earl Buttrey has his trail scheduled for July 27. As I understand it, which is sketchy, his murder victims were only *found* in Somervell County but are not Somervell County residents. There was also a civil trial concerning Colin Hammett and Cody Day, who was killed at Boot Scootin Country bar a couple of years ago. Apparently the Day family sued the company Hammett worked for, as well as him, and the suit was settled by a $169,829.40 Dusti Day Trust Fund. The other case heard in 254th District court was about Fossil Rim and rabies exposure a few years ago (August 2004). There was a summary judgement regarding it, and Fossil Rim agreed to pay for some out of pocket expense the families incurrred (because they all got rabies shots even though the CDC said the first test was contaminated.)

There's a great letter to the editor from Joan Taylor (the links aren't up yet on the Glen Rose Reporter website-if I remember, I'll go back and add them here). She mentions that phony poll, how well represented the 4b meeting was by citizens, and has what I think is a little snark.

Those supporting building a water park on the hill coming into Glen Rose from Cleburne said they have worked hard for the past ten years removing the stone from the mountain on Hwy 144 and Hwy 67 to build a water park for the residents. I had thought it was to build the new Longhorn Museum.... If we build a water park at this location perhaps it will cover the holes left by the rock removal, so that might look real nice.

heh. It's a great letter and she goes on to urge that we don't need to be in a hurry to do this waterpark.

I also see that the GRISD high schol art students are going to have their art displayed at Barnard's Mill on Sunday April 19 and Sat and Sunday May 2 & 3. Do you know, I have never been to Barnard's Mill, although it is the oldest historical building in this county (and actually predates the formation of the county).
