It's SO windy out today -every once in a while I hear something thump on the patio, and I hear the sheriff's radio going off on brush fires around here. Then, a few minutes ago the weather radio went off about Hood County and Lipan.
There is EXTREME fire danger today.
Update: The order to get ready to evacuate and watch the fires comes from the Hood County Judge (Rash?) That includes Tolar and Granbury. When I look out the window the sky looks quite smoky. And Parker County east of Weatherford is having wildfires and being told to evacuate.
The Sheriff's radio has been going off in the last hour with some brush fires around here too. I didn't catch the last number but one was on 100X and spreading.
Here's the weather as of 3:00 pm CDT
A Wind Advisory remains in effect this afternoon...and a red flag warning remains in effect as well. The dry line was located at 3 PM along a line from Gainesville...to west Fort Worth...to west of Killeen. Strong and gusty west winds... gusting over 50 mph in a few locations...west of the dry line are bringing blowing dust into western and central counties this afternoon. A number of wild fires are being reported and are contributing smoke to the air as well. The dry line and the west winds move from west to east this afternoon...rapidly decreasing humidities and quickly increasing the fire danger in central and eastern counties. There remains a slight chance of thunderstorms east of the dry line this afternoon...and isolated strong to severe thunderstorms remain possible.
One more update from the DMN. Looks like parts of Parker County were definitely evacuated.
