I haven't posted much the last few days because I start to read the news and then feel very... blah.
Bush, oops, I mean Obama, tries to derail a case into warrantless wiretapping, which violates the Constitution, by citing state secrets. Somebody tell me why this is different, because I can't see it.
Bush, oops, I mean Obama, tries to prevent a man who says he was tortured at Guantanemo Bay by both the United States and the UK from being able to testify. Again, somebody tell me how this is different than Bush saying "We don't torture" while really doing it. Why is Obama upholding this? Makes him saying that the US doesn't torture a lie as long as his admnistration attempts to keep torture, even by a previous administration, secret. Did Obama cut a deal with Bush to prevent HIM from being brought to justice?
Bush, ooops, I mean Obama, says he is going to get troops out of Iraq. Except he isn't. Juan Cole says that he actually is and people fret too much.
Bush, ooops, I mean Obama is ramping up the war in Afghanistan. CAn't say I'm surprised by this, because he has always said this is what he plans to do. I heard this morning on the radio, however, that Gates is giving a reason for why the troops will be there- to help out Pakistan. So, what, we're back to being the world's policemen? We didn't give away enough weapons to Pakistan before? It's just baloney.
Bush, oops, I mean Obama is going to give MORE money to AIG. I can't begin to say how disgusted I am by this. Let's bail out all the crooks, shall we, and let them know they can get away with screwing people over and the taxpayers will be the ones to bail them out. Always.
So, I'm just not in a *hopeful* mood this morning but wondering why I should ever get excited or involved in any national political election ever again.
