More on the Odious SC Law regarding Ultrasounds and Abortions

that treats women as infantile and stupid and unable to make decisions for themselves, good or bad.  I notice in this article that talks about how the SC House has passed the bill to require women to wait for one day after having an ultrasound done (required) before they can get an abortion. Here was the part that offends.

Last year, legislators approved a measure saying women must be
asked if they want to view their ultrasound image. Abortion foes
had wanted to require that they see it.

So, you're laying down on the table with an ultrasound by you, which is now entirely portable and includes sound effects. You don't have a choice in being FORCED to have an ultrasound (who pays for that, anyway? If it's a poor person, does she have to pony up that money out of her own pocket or do I, the taxpayer, pick up the cost through, say, Medicaid or Medicare?) but, how nice, you can tell the doctor or nurse while you're lying there that you just don't want to see it, you're turning your head the other say, and by the way, would they mind turning off the volume?

And then, you don't get to go get an abortion if that's what you wanted, but you have to go home and then come back. How much money and time is THAT costing you? I imagine a scenario where somebody takes off a day of work but maybe either can't take off another day consecutively or can't afford to take off another day.

I forgot. Because the people who pass this care nothing for the actual, living, breathing, human beings who are affected by all of this rigamarole.

Incidentally, I see that Obama is considering rescinding that rule of Bush's that protected medical providers who refused to perform abortions or other medical procedures WHILE TAKING FEDERAL FUNDS.

Federal law has long forbidden discrimination against health care professionals who refuse to perform abortions or provide referrals for them. The Bush administration's rule requires institutions that get federal funding to certify their compliance with laws protecting conscience rights. It was intended to block the flow of federal funds to hospitals and other institutions that ignore the rights of religious and moral objectors.

The Obama administration supports the underlying federal laws that protect conscience rights, said the HHS official.

But the administration was concerned that the Bush regulation could also be used to refuse birth control, family planning services and counseling for vaccines and transfusions.
