An Economic Assessment Report Community Impact Associated to Glen Rose Medical Center

You can read it here but I find a few things interesting.

1. This would come out now right before the election so people will think about the impact it has when voting.

2. The largest cost is:

Salaries & Benefits

$ 13,779,355

wonder how much of that goes to whom. If this passes then we will be able to request and get this information through open records requests but now it is hidden because of the private foundation. Be careful what you ask for as you just might get it as you have to follow the rules that come with taxing people which means opening up your books to the public for lots of scrutiny.

I don't recall but wasn't part of this in the slide presentation. Wonder how much the study costs.

Yes, I understand that our Chamber of Commerce emailed this to everybody on their list today.  Who is the new COC president/chairman? Coincidence?

The hospital, nursing home, laboratory and radiology operate 24/7. Certified, licensed personnel probably make between $20 and $35 an hour plus benefits (the high cost of health insurance is driving GRMC into the ditch along with many other employers).

GRMC also has an Outpatient Surgery and 24 hour Emergency Room. Then there are nurse's aides, phlebotomists, medical transciptionists, billing specialists, secretaries, human resource, social workers, house keeping staff, pharmacy, maintenence, and of course, physicians and administration.

Let's not forget that GRMC has been quite solvent all these years, generating (until recently) the income it needs to operate. How come no one wants to talk about that?

Is GRMC trying to hide something? I don't think so. I support our hospital.

 Just read the study. It speaks for itself.

HB-this has nothing to do with whether a private foundation that leases from Somervell County residents is solvent or not. Except, perhaps, that now that it apparently may not be, GRMC is asking the taxpayers to declare a hospital district so that taxpayers can pay for the hospital directly.

The economic study is talking about the benefits of a hospital to our area. Mike Ford has already said, I'm paraphrasing, that Somervell County would be determined to have a hospital here. And why not? They own the land, the building and the equipment.
