Federal Judge Recommends Huntington IND Stop their Religious Education Program

A little background. From Today.

In his recommendation, Cosbey wrote that the school district faces minimal harm if the preliminary injunction is granted, while the plaintiff faced irreparable harm with continued violation of her First Amendment rights.

Any inconvenience caused to Associated Churches of Huntington County by the preliminary injunction does not outweigh any harm caused by the constitutional violation, Cosbey wrote in his ruling.

He wrote the case seemed to be about one ultimate question, whether "religious instruction to elementary students on public school property during the school day, in a church-owned mobile classroom (is a violation) of the Establishment Clause."

Cosbey found that it was, saying that the use of tax-supported property and the utilization of the tax-supported public school system to aid religious groups to spread their faith made the program unconstitutional.

1 - Kelly Brown   4 Feb 2009 @ 12:19:47 PM  Why when so many people want a program like that and are not upset, offended or "irreparably damaged" by such religous things going on, is one person allowed to get away with a law suit like this or with stopping something like this!!? When something is on tv, radio, public building, or wherever that I do not like or am offended by, I just stay away from it!! That way I am not taking anything away from them and they are not taking anything away from me. It is getting to the point that we can no longer decorate for Christmas, say Merry Christmas, have God in our pledge or our court rooms and buildings, or pray in public places and we need to stop this insanity! People like this person and the federal judge that is ruling on this should be ashamed of themselves! We need to start paying better attention to the people we elect so judges like this are not appointed and we have people in our government that will uphold the beliefs that were used to created our wonderful country! We also need to stand together and make our voices heard (loud and clear)that we will not take this anymore and stop people like this from ruining our great country and our world! Lets stop this stupidity or we are all going to end up in hell!

There is this thing called the Constitution that we all live by and the 1st amendment to that says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

So if you are a citizen of this nation, then you follow this law. No one is stopping you from doing things in public places, just stopping any religion from making it part of the government or forcing it upon everyone else. I am quite sure most people reading this would not like to listen to people preach the Koran before events. If you are talking about a majority rules type of thing, well individual rights are protected so that each of us may live as we please and not be forced to live as the majority of others around us do, it is called a democracy where people can differ on opinion.

As to the "so judges like this are not appointed and we have people in our government that will uphold the beliefs that were used to created our wonderful country". Let's take a look at what our country was founded under, you know that thing we call the Constitution comes up again and it has a preamble or as most people call it the Statement of Purpose states:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

So the belief above was used to create our wonderful country, maybe contrary to what you believe but it is a fact, and we should uphold it by putting in judges that uphold the RULE OF LAW (the Constitution) that we all promise to live by.
