Watched the movie *King Corn* last night

about a couple of guys who go back to Greene, Iowa, where, coincidentally, both their grandfathers lived, and look at the process of growing corn. The corn that is grown in mass isn't tasty, for human consumption, the farmers are subsidized by the government, the excess that doesn't go into ethanol or feed goes into corn syrup, and Butz started this new trend in the 70s.

The main question that they started with was, how did all this corn get into my hair? And I wonder, is it possible to get many foods nowadays that don't have corn syrup added? If not, what do people do to get around it? Buy frozen? Can their own?

P.S. I ran out to do some errands a while ago and stopped at the store. Got some barbecued chicken -sauce with corn syrup; picked up a brownie mix-corn syrup. Now, the bread mix I got for the breadmaker had no corn syrup. Seems to me that with a little more effort on my part, I could just make up my own sauce and mixes and skip the corn syrup. One of the disturbing parts of the movie last night was not just how people get fat from all this added corn syrup but also more prone to diabetes.
