Time to Clip the 'Rose' --- that is, Rep. Patrick Rose

19 October 2008 at 11:50:03 AM

Hays, Caldwell and Blanco counties should vote-out Rose this November.

Patrick Rose [a Democrat] is more of a Republican than is his GOP running opponent Matt Young.  It is well-documented that Rose voted for special interest bills and supported Gov. Perry and Speaker Craddick more than 90 percent of the time.

In addition, for the most part Patrick Rose had been quiet on last year's Hays County Road Bond issue until the week prior to the election, whereupon he came out strong FOR the proposition and campaigned for it, which then was defeated by the public. This year there is another even more expensive road bond proposal at $207 MILLION!  It is not a secret that Rose receives large campaign contributions from special interest developers.

It is further true that Rose has NOT been the leader his constituents expected or needed, nor has he been the great leader believed by the Austin Statesman.

Rose, a Democrat, voted to reelect Tom Craddick as Speaker of the House when it clearly was NOT in the best interests of his party nor that of the people of Texas.
Furthermore, Rose did NOT directly support the community when TxDOT poorly provided an overlay of FM 1826. The community demanded that TxDOT reseal the poorly performed job and all that Rose did was to schedule a meeting with some TxDOT spokespersons but did NOT openly support the community in this effort.

It took the community 1 year of effort and finally the support of the Senate Committee on Transportation to 'convince' TxDOT to reseal the roadway and then it was again at the expense of Hays County taxpayers, who were forced to pay twice for TxDOT to complete the job correctly once.

Rose also voted for Perry's tort reform, and for the deregulation of various industries and special interests, which has hurt Texans and their families financially.

Voters this November should "pluck" Rose from his seat in the House.

Rose does NOT deserve to be reelected.

Patrick Rose is the best candidate for the job.  He is an independent, who always considers both sides of the issues involving our district.  He doesn't pander to contributors.  He listens to the people and lets them speak through him.  He is the epitome of a true representative of a democracy.  I won't let any hate speech deter me and my family and friends from voting for him.  He does not base his candidacy on exclusionary tactics.  He has wisdom and experience, and he very carefully weighs the concerns of the citizens of his district.  We are so blessed to have an independent state representative.  I have lived in this district since 1984 and my support of Patrick Rose has not wavered since he went into public office in 2002.  I am even willing to support him when I don't personally agree with his carefully made choices.  GO PATRICK!!!
