Got a press release from the Casbeer campaign. Before posting that, here's what came out the other day in an AP article that has been all over the state, except that I don't see it for some reason either in the Stephenville paper or the Glen Rose Reporter newspaper.

Challenger Says Ethics Charges Raise Disturbing Questions About Opponent's Possible Criminal Actions

(OGLESBY)-- Texas House challenger Ernie Casbeer today said that a new ethics charge filed against his opponent raises disturbing questions about whether he is illegally profiting from business he co-owns with a registered lobbyist that he hid for several years but admitted to last week after charges were filed against him with the Texas Ethics Commission.

“My opponent has now been forced to admit to a longstanding business relationship with a lobbyist to whom he has paid more than half-a-million dollars in campaign cash,” Casbeer said. “But his admission does nothing to erase disturbing questions about how much of that campaign cash may be winding up illegally in his own pocket.”

Casbeer cited the revelation in news reports that his opponent, longtime politician Sid Miller, failed to disclose business links to a registered lobbyist for pharmaceutical and insurance companies.

Miller and the lobbyist, Todd Smith of Austin, are both directors of E-Communications Advantage, Inc., according to records currently on file with the Texas Secretary of State. The for-profit company does work for political campaigns, including Miller’s own, according to the ethics complaint.

In addition, news reports show that Miller has paid Smith, who also serves as his political consultant, more than $575,000 in campaign donations.

Miller’s name was added to an amended indictment this summer in the ongoing criminal investigation of disgraced former congressman Tom DeLay, who is accused of making illegal corporate contributions to a series of state legislators six years ago.
