Spears was selected to vet Palin because she is an authority on mothering, and the author of numerous books on the subject, including "Through The Storm -- How To Raise Good Christian Girls." She is also an authority on raising good Christian grandchildren "as quickly as possible," says Dr. Ian Fesslhoff, an expert on parenting experts.
Spears confirmed that she okayed Palin for the Veep spot on the McCain ticket. "I especially approved of Palin's strong religious and moral stances on abortion and abstinence-only policies toward sex education," she said. As a mom, she also felt the timing of Palin's placement on the ticket was key: "There's no better time to run for office than when you have a five-month-old with special needs and a teenage daughter with baby number two on the way."
bwahahahah and now a few jokes
Jay Leno- "Palin and McCain are a good pair. She's pro-life and he's clinging to life."
"There was some breaking news out of Dayton, Ohio today, where Republican presidential candidate John McCain introduced the world to his third wife." –Jon Stewart
Watch this video and watch McCain play with his wedding ring-heh.
Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard, considers Palin "extremely responsive and smart" and says she is in charge when it comes to in-state services, such as emergencies and natural disasters where the National Guard is the first responder.
But, in an interview with The Associated Press on Sunday, he said he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.
According to Global Security, "the governor commands AKNG [Alaska National Guard] while it is not in active federal service. The principal executive officer of DMVA [Department of Military and Veterans Affairs], the adjutant general, is an appointee of the governor."
It should be noted, however, that the current adjutant general, Gen. Campbell, was appointed in 2003--more than three years before Palin took office. So she didn't even make the decision determining who would run the Alaska National Guard.
But Tucker Bounds' wildly misinformed performance on CNN Monday leads to a more troubling question: On Sunday, John McCain himself touted Palin's national security credentials by referring to her experience with the Alaska National Guard. So the question becomes this: Does John McCain even know what Sarah Palin's role in Alaska is?
3. We also rebut the cental theme of McCain's campaign. Country First? Really? When you're willing to place a severely underqualified person with zero foreign policy or national security experience a heartbeat away from the presidency in order to satisfy your political patrons, are you really putting country first? When you yourself are 72? And you've staked your entire candidacy on promoting American strength? Really?
The former library director in Wasilla says that Palin asked if she could censor library books. From Politico
— And, maybe, censorship. According to the Frontiersman newspaper, Wasilla’s library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, said that Palin asked her outright if she "could live with censorship of library books.” Palin later dismissed the conversation as a “rhetorical” exercise.
Oh, now THAT is a son- in law to be PROUD of. heh. Notice he says he doesn't even want kids.
P.S. Obama can say he'd like the media to lay off Palin's familiy. Fine. He can do that. But I'm not going to do it, because her pick as a VP is a major insult to women who are thinking people. And should she accidentally become VP because McCain kicks, her extreme stances on reproductive issues AFFECTS ME AND MY FAMILY. Were the tables turned and it was Obama's daughters who were preggers out of wedlock, the opposition would be all over it like white on rice, with some racism tossed in for good measure
P.P.S. I've seen a few right-wing sites this morning whining that People Better Lay Off the Palins... OR Else. Wah. Do the Bullies Not Like it When Sand Gets Kicked Back In their Faces? As Savage Love Letter of the Day Says.
PLEASE hit us with a column about evangelical, abstinence-only, anti-gay marriage, anti-choice Gov. Palin. America needs you, Dan! Not a column about her teenage daughter's pregnancy, just a column about how hypocritical it is that politicians parade their families when it flatters them, and demand privacy when it doesn't. A column about how any time a conservative pol's behavior differs from his or her vaunted values, it's a "private (DUI, lesbian daughter, bathroom blow-job, draft-dodging) matter." Of course ordinary people don't have private lives, so they need the government to tell them when to have babies and whom to love and marry. Only public people have private lives...
Dan I LOVE you (not in that way, I'm a girl.) Get to work!

P.S. If this email makes me look classy, it's public; but if, later on down the road, it makes me look silly, it's private. You understand.
