And now, from the company that brought the world heroin, the extinction of the human race.

Bayer AG, the German company that first marketed heroin, has been accused of being responsible for the mass honey bee die-offs that have affected various parts of the world.

Bayer is the producer of clothianidin and imidacloprid, which belong to a new class of insecticides called neonicotinoids that attack the central nervous system of insects

An August 29 Natural News report that described a recent study on the bee die-offs conducted in Germany said, “Government researchers tested the bodies of dead bees, and found that 99 percent had been contaminated with the pesticide clothianidin, made by Bayer.”

On August 25, Germany’s Coalition Against Bayer Dangers went to the public prosecutor in Freiburg and filed a charge against Bayer AG Board of Management Chairman Werner Wenning.

“The group accuses Bayer CropScience of ‘marketing dangerous pesticides and thereby accepting the mass death of bees all over the world,’” the Environment News Service reported.

“The coalition filed the charge in cooperation with German beekeepers who claim they lost thousands of hives after poisoning by the Bayer pesticide clothianidin in May,” the ENS report added.

The Coalition Against Bayer Dangers has called on Bayer to withdraw all neonicotinoids from world markets.

In the United States, the nonprofit Natural Resources Defense Council filed a lawsuit on August 15 in federal court in Washington, DC to force the U.S. federal government to disclose studies it ordered on the effect of clothianidin on honey bees, claiming the Environmental Protection Agency has evidence of connections between pesticides and the bee die-offs that it has not made public.
