PEC rides again!

 

Dear Texas Senators and House Representatives:

 

Last month I wrote all of your re: the doubling of my monthly electric costs by runaway Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC).

For the past 2 months EACH of my electric bills were right at the $550.00 mark!

How long are people going to be able to pay these outrageous charges?

How long are legislators going to let PEC get away with it?  The former criminals who headed PEC and who reaped the fraudulent rewards of overblown salaries and endless perks should be forced to repay the money they absconded with and put it into refunding cooperative members.

I've been told by certain legislators that y'all want to let the new PEC management make changes without any government interference or regulation.

Well, forget that ridiculous consideration because PEC will NOT change on its own --- at least, NOT very quickly.  Consequently, the high cost of electricity will add to the costs of high property taxes, doubled home insurance costs, which in turn, will add to the already record high number of home foreclosures.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative does NOT deserve to remain a "cooperative" because to be one you must be able to "cooperate" with your members.

PEC does NOT do that.

It's time legislators remove the absurd "deregulation" legislation pushed by Perry, Craddick and all the other "friends of the electric industry"!

Please stop waiting for "Godot"!

Please stop waiting for the inevitable.  Provide PEC with the oversight and/or regulation it has earned.  The people of this state need your help and support NOW!

Please help pec has rude people that take personal grudges out on customers. Lost job, Electric was shut off this winter. took a title loan on car to pay. They still would not turn on after paid in full with added charges they gave. spent the night in car with grandson when it was 32 degrees out. Begged them but they were so mean and rude. God will punish them but I pray in the mean time something is done. people shouldn't be so heartless!  by the way lost car as a result. their motto is when your down kick them

Anonymous,  I am very surprised because my dealings with the company have always been positive when things were wrong.  I've been a customer for 13 years or so.

You don't mention where you live, so I can't be more specific with you.  Did you speak with a Supervisor at PEC?

I would think this man could help you get back your services if you still have your place.  You can ask for him specifically when you phone PEC.

Member Services Manager Eddie Dauterive has been with PEC since January 2002. He is currently directing the Cooperative's member services staff at contact centers and business offices, revenue recovery, and best practices process improvement initiatives.

Dauterive has more than 15 years of experience in technology, billing and finance, project management and customer service. He began his career in the mortgage industry before working as a management consultant providing technology planning and project management services to various industries. He originally joined the Cooperative as manager over PEC's software development operations.

He earned an MBA from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He is a licensed project manager and certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He and his wife Alexia have three children and live in Southwest Austin.

 

He seems to be the one who could really help you if you are polite and explain to him everything that has happened to date.  Try not to get too emotional and deal with the facts and events.

How in the heck do they get to decide what to do with and when we can use the credits(money) that they over charged us!!! They charge us these crazy rates and the onky reason tthat they do it is because where we live we dont have another choice! Talk about a buch of crap! We live in American and we cant even chose who we want as a provider wow what happened to our freedom? ?? PEC stinks! Oh yes and heaven forbid life happens and you cant pay your bill the instant you recive it cause they will charge u a huge late fee cut u off and charge u a crazy reconnect fee wth we cant pay the bill why would u think people can pay all that other bs???

I agree with you that there is no choice in the areas that PEC does business.  There is no competition for our business and we must pay whatever PEC charges. 

I don't particularly care for the upper management.  We pay top dollar for our electricity, but still less that what many electric companies charge. Again, PEC is a cooperative that does NOT follow the same laws for electric companies.

Our legislature for years has let PEC do whatever it wants, even with all the complaints sent.

However, I have always found employees of PEC professional and courteous and if you have a problem with paying your electric bill, the company will try to work with you on payments.

In addition, if ever there is a problem with service, e.g., a blackout or other issues, PEC fixes the problem very quickly.  PEC service has always been one of the best in Texas.
