One Last on Erik Slaughter of GRISD-Got my Open Records Request the other day

6 May 2008 at 4:11:30 PM

You may remember that, during the episode with Erik Slaughter, I asked, via an Open Records Request, for a copy of the letter that was given to Slaughter that placed him on administrative leave. The administration referred the request through the school attorney and on to the Texas Attorney General's office. Shortly thereafter Mr. Slaughter resigned, and I had kind of forgotten about the request. Got it in the mail the other day.

Here is the letter that was given to Erik Slaughter. Pretty well confirms what was thought, that a former student in the Stephenville school district informed the Stephenville board.

Knowing that this was in his past, why would Slaughter take such a risk to jeopardize his entire career. Was it hubris?

If these allegations are true, then we should be hearing about arrest warrants.

I wonder, on your second point. I had heard that the incident had actually been reported at the time to TEA.

I think it must be human nature to try to bluff out your past and hope no one finds out.

Very interesting -

If it had been reported to TEA, why would Stephenville have considered him for a teaching job?
