Went to the Fort Worth TX Obama Rally Last Night

Wow! I love Fort Worth anyway; I think its cultural district trumps Dallas, and driving there is only about an hour. So drove down at what I thought was an early time, rounded the corner on Houston St and wow, the line of people at the Convention Center was HUGE. After getting in, which was remarkably fast and easy and we WERE checked by security and wanded, we sat midway up at the back facing Obama. Next to us were a couple of students from Tarrant's Communiy College-one was undecided and the other was an independent who had voted for Obama because he agrees with his positions.  A family behind me had brought their 2 year old daughter, who the father was teaching to say Obama! Here's a photo slideshow from the Star-Telegram.

By the time the event started, the place was PACKED!  The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has the number of attendees at 11,000.

Rosalind Evans remembers a few years ago when her kindergarten-age son told his classmates that he wanted to run for president.

"An Anglo boy told him he couldn't because he's black," Evans said. "It's not that he can't. It's that he can."

So Thursday night, she took all three of her sons to the Fort Worth Convention Center to see Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama -- an African-American who could capture the party's nomination if he wins Texas.

"I didn't think this would happen in my lifetime," Evans said. "It says a lot about the country."

Sitting and listening to Obama, I felt .. hungry.. like I was starving for what he was saying. I was thinking about it, as in when he talked about education and sacrifice and thought that THIS was an example of the Christian values thinking that I grew up with. Where we are all, as a country, in it together working to achieve greater things and no one truly is out of the picture. It wasn't just words, I believed in it. If that makes Obama a hopemonger, I'm buying what he is selling. And the huge sea of people there that were black, white, hispanic, and asian believed it too. I want a president for America and I'm glad I have already voted for Obama.

Thanks so much for the personal coverage!  Your thoughts are very inspiring and it really does say that our country has come further than I thought and that's a very good thing!  GO OBAMA!
