North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Want to add Wise and Hood Counties, Texas

The MPA is not only looking at extending into Wise County, but also into Hood, Hunt and even more of the counties now only partially inside the designated zone.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Metroplex is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the nation with more than 6 million inhabitants. The Metroplex is also growing at a rate of 1 million residents every seven years. With the current rate of growth, NCTCOG predicts Wise County will grow by 82 percent by 2030 with a population of more than 102,000.
...

With the ever-nearing approach of the Outer Loop project, which looks to slice right through Wise County, it's very important to have a voice in the RTC, Lorance said.

Ah. The donut. We've written about this before -we attended the NCTCOG meeting in Springtown (Parker Co) Texas last year.

The proposed Outer Loop Corridor looks to encircle the Metroplex. The section affecting Wise County, according to the current proposed route, would enter from the east several miles north of U.S. 380 and veer south just east of Decatur until running into Parker County.

Cynthia White, a Denton County commissioner who chairs the RTC, has actually convinced state leaders to possibly tie-in the Outer Loop project with the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC). The TTC is currently undergoing a temporary moratorium.

Better read up about that donut! Contrary to what Ms. White says, TxDOT has had plans for a long time to have the donut be part of the TTC.  White *hearts* the TTC and toll roads, but apparently she has opposition for her next run in 2008. Good thing because THREE TIMES she was dinged for campaign finance irregularities.

And.... Get that? TEMPORARY MORATORIUM. Told you so.
