First up, he's growing the military.

The day after Army officials announced that Fort Hood will grow by more than 3,000 soldiers in three years, two congressmen announced the Central Texas post will receive more than $160 million for construction projects.

Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, and Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, said Thursday that the military construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill includes $18 million for a CH-47 Chinook maintenance hangar at Fort Hood.

The funding will allow for the construction of a CH-47 maintenance hangar at Hood Army Airfield in order to support the Army's initiative to transform aviation brigade-sized units into combat aviation brigade-sized units.

Here's for Johnson County

The final 2008 federal appropriations bill includes funding for four Johnson County projects: $1.9 million for the next phase of improvements at Ham Creek Park, $492,200 for a new water tower in Grandview, $188,000 for the county’s drug task force and $588,000 to widen Alsbury Boulevard in Burleson. President Bush is expected to sign the bill, which the House passed Monday and the Senate passed Tuesday, soon, said Josh Taylor, communications director for U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco.
