This was the second meeting I have ever been to, of ANY school board meeting and it was very interesting. Some of the agenda items were elementary school kids saying the pledge, recognition of the GRISD annual Christmas card, FFA National Convention report, facilities assessment and interim construction report (working on the elementary school), and financial reports. AUDIO MP3 HERE-it's about 11 mg, so you may want to right click and save to your computer to listen to it, particularly if you have a slow connection). One of the most interesting presentations was on the AEIS report-Glen Rose did very well, even compared with the entire state, and Ms Moore provided a breakdown of how to read all the elements of the report. Another interesting report was from the construction people who did a projection of how much work all the various campuses would need over time in order to either be fixed, keep up with growth, or stay compliant with TEA standards. The elementary school also created a very cute presentation of what goes on there-I assume that will be put on the GRISD website-it was well done and featured examples of students and teachers doing various activities.
I also have am making a couple of video clips-first of the kiddos saying the pledge, because it was so cute, and second, of some budget comments. I'll put them on a new post.
