Here's an MP3 (audio) file of the meeting, it starts a minute or so after the beginning; I plan to put up some video snips in the next day or so.

Impressions of the meeting. Glenn Wilson wanted and was granted permission to annex about 13 acres of land next to the golf course. He wasn't there but someone said that he is planning to put in some office buildings and town houses on the property. The Fire chief talked about the new volunteers, some of whom were sitting in the audience. LONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG discussion that seemed to go on forever about the garbage rates rising for the city-the question was whether pickup should be two times a week or once, the rates wil be more for two times a week pickup-lots of discussion also about the contract. Discussion about the letters to go out to people who live on the edge of the county where Granbury might try to annex them.  Should tax abatements be for every business? Or just manufacturing and not retail? And what standards ought there be for the presentation of buidings, ie, how much rock etc.? The most interesting part, to me, was about whether the city should hire a city administrator/manager to carry out a plan for the direction the city will go. Mayor Miller was deadset against it, but the other council members, especially Ricky Villa, spoke for hiring the person. We wondered, since all the talk was about a male being hired, do they have someone already in mind for the position? Even Miller referred to the new city manager, if hired, as being a man.

Some pictures.

I find it interesting that Ricky said something to the affect of 'we have plenty of money' like he is being kind of loose with the money the city has...which brings up a good question. If the city has so much money then why don't taxes get brought down?
