AGAIN on the Nafta Superhighway-Trans Texas Corridor Being a MYTH

18 November 2007 at 12:23:24 PM

I saw ANOTHER article today ridiculing the NAFTA Superhighway as a myth and it occurs to me that maybe, just like TxDOT has been paying a public relations/marketing company to push the TTC, these articles which all seemed to have come out around the same time, are ALSO part of a marketing push to play down what's happening to our roads. The one I saw today, which I won't dignify by linking to, tried to equate information about the NASCO highway to easter bunny and nutjob material.

That is insulting to those of us who live in Texas and KNOW about the Trans Texas Corridor, not only because we READ about it, but a lot of us ATTENDED the TxDOT public meetings in which not only a presentation was given, but a lot of comments from citizens. And yes, TxDOT said and I have it recorded (and it was on their website too at least for awhile) that the TTC could be up to 10 miles wide in spots. I went to 7 different meetings in 7 different counties-take a look for yourself.

And anyone that believes that the TTC exists in a vaccuum that won't include the road to Kansas City or down to Mexico is guilty of extreme ignorance. That's WHY thinking people look at the NASCO website, at the map and see a huge road, most likely toll in the same way the TTC is,splitting the country.

Frankly, I believe that all these *myth* articles are PR plants from advertising agencies to try to turn public opinion against what is actually happening.

I know there are some people in Somervell County who have no idea what the Trans Texas Corridor is. They may have seen the advert in the paper before and, because it dealt with roads, thought it might be boring. But it's very real to those whose homes and ranches lie in the paths of the TTC and will be taken through eminent domain.
