Proposed Amendments: Word to the Wise

Voters Beware!!!

Usually only 5-percent of registered voters go to the polls during the elections for Proposed Amendments.  The smart vote is to vote-down all or most of them; however, those who do vote approve 80-percent of the proposals.  Smart voters should reconsider doing so.

 Vote on Tuesday, November 6th and let's get rid of these absurd proposals that simply add to our high taxes and/or waste our tax dollars!!!

In particular vote "No!" on Props. 2, 4, 12, 15!!!

Amendment # 2 is to create another general fund to provide additional taxes for student higher education loans.  For the past 2 years Perry and legislators have provided special interest higher education with more funds while taking away from community colleges.  The wealthy can afford to educate their children while poorer folks can NOT!  Let legislators take some money from wealthy colleges to share with community poorer ones --- just like they force homeowners to do!!!  Also, stop giving higher education special interests, e.g., UT Regents a large percentage of tax revenue from gasoline taxes!

Amendment #4 wants to provide more tax dollars for government to buy "things" it needs!  What happened to "NO New Taxes?"  Let government tighten its belt like we have to and use money it has to get the "things" it really needs!!!

Amendment #12 wants to generate more taxes to give to TxDOT for road improvements and building!  Are you kidding?  Before we give belligerent too independent TxDOT more money to waste on advertising its toll plans and lobbying U. S. Congress to change laws that protect Texans from being double toll taxed, let the runaway agency become more responsible and accountable to the public re: its plans and expenditures.  Right now the agency can't be trusted, so why throw-away more of our tax dollars on it???

The Houston Chronicle just had an article on this issue with TxDOT:

Amendment #15 says it wants to cure cancer!  Right!  Already the health care research industry spends billions on this venture.  During the past 7 years Gov. Perry has provided his wealthy campaign contributing special interests with enough profits that they could use available money to finance such a project.  Legislators just want to tax Texans to a quicker death!!!  Instead of financing yet another attempt at a cure for cancer, we need to cure increasing frivolous taxation!

Remember  when voting for Road Bonds and School Bonds...

BONDS   =   MORE TAXES!!!

Do we really need to pay MORE taxes?
