Yet ANOTHER City, Plano, Texas, Suspends Atmos Request for Rate Hike

On the one hand, the Texas Railroad "Never Met an Oil and Gas Company We Can't Pander To" Commission aka RRC

approved an $11 million rate increase for all Atmos Mid-Tex residential customers. The current request is for more than $51.9 million, an amount Atmos says is a fair rate of return on its investment.

But it seems that, um, a lot of cities, including Plano, just don't believe Atmos teary-eyed claims.

Atmos, which was in the news last year for trying to screw over customers for stuff like the executives going out to pricy dinners, poor-mouthed itself.

He warned the company could hit financial trouble if it’s not allowed to raise rates

Wah. Then I guess people would have to get their gas, FREE MARKET STYLE, from some other company, right???????? Isn't that how it's supposed to work? Or is it that we should all be obligated to KEEP YOU in business. If you get that kind of deal, can I open a business and threaten people that they should have to shop there to keep my butt in clover?

Remember, this is why Atmos was trying to get the Texas Lege to pass HB 651 last year. It's all clear now, especially since so many cities, including, if memory serves, Hamilton, are pushing BACK.
