Several voiced opposition to the war. One man asked why the Democratic Congress won’t stop appropriating money for it.

“I know there are different opinions about the war and thank our vets present today who fought for our country so we could have the right to sit here and voice these opinions,” Edwards said. “I think to cut funding would put those American men and women there in harms way and hurt funding for military bases in the U.S.”

Also hurt one of his main contributors, L-3.

Edwards said he supports troops beginning to come home soon and stressed the need for Iraqi citizens and leaders to take more control of their country.

Yeah. It's all the Iraqis fault that we invaded them and continue to occupy their country. That's a Bush excuse.

Several attendees nonetheless said America never should have been in Iraq.

“But what do we do now is the question,” Edwards said. “To pull all our troops out immediately would be chaos. I support some but not complete withdrawal next year and a change in our mission from primarily combat to training the Iraqi army.”

We already HAVE it as our mission to train the Iraqi army or what the heck have we been doing for the last 4 years? What Edward didn't say is that he wants to keep troops in Iraq but to fight Al-Qaida.

One audience member said the $10 billion to $12 billion a month spent in Iraq would be better spent repairing America’s infrastructure.

AMEN!
