Clinton on H1B Visas and *Allaying American Fears About Outsourcing*
Ever since I saw Bush go to India and tell Americans, basically, to suck it up that their jobs were being taken by Indians but we'd get some mangos in return, I've wondered who, besides, businessmen, were for both outsourcing (because they can pay people on the cheap) and insourcing (because they can.. pay people on the cheap). Count Hillary Clinton in that bunch, and examine the insulting way she tries to court Indian technologists while appear that she's on the American worker's side (because, of course, she doesn't want to look like she's stiffing Americans).
In one of her bluntest assessments of globalization yet, Sen. Hillary Rodman Clinton challenged a large crowd of Indian technologists gathered in Santa Clara on Friday to help allay the fears of Americans that good jobs are being exported, or risk political and economic backlash.
"Workers in the U.S. are concerned about outsourcing, as I'm sure you know. And I think they have a right go be," Clinton told about 3,000 people attending a conference sponsored by the alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology. "If the standard of living and the quality of life falls in reality and in perception and in any way decreases in the United States, our bilateral cooperation and partnerships could very well suffer in the long run."
Huh? It's the job of the Indian technologists that are taking American jobs to *allay the fears* of Americans whose jobs are being taken?????? I'd almost laugh at how ludicrous that is. C'mon. If YOU were an Indian technologist with a good job, you're SERIOUSLY going to try to pat Americans on the head and tell them "Don't Worry That We're Taking Your Jobs, We Hope It Won't Affect Your Standard of Living". Pffftttt.
And who is STUPID enough to believe that her waggling her finger at corporations to *warn* them about outsourcing jobs is going to make them all shape up? She's also behind the curve if she thinks there's not a significant part of the population that is ALREADY concerned and insecure.
Speaking via satellite from New Orleans, Clinton also warned that global business and government leaders are advised to help keep Americans in jobs or suffer the consequences.
"If the United States continues to outsource jobs to India in increasingly large numbers, people will begin to feel insecure and may very well seek more protection against what they view as unfair competition," she said.
And get this. At the same time Ms NAFTA is pushing this swill, she's also wanting more H-1B Visas, which of course bring foreign workers to THIS country to take American jobs; ie, insourcing.
Clinton also reiterated her call to expand the H-1B program that allows companies to bring in skilled foreign workers who "contribute greatly to our U.S. technology development." She said she would use fees collected from the visas to train American workers and said the U.S. government has an urgent responsibility to create new programs to produce more college graduates, particularly in math and science.
Who does she think she is? Bush? The issue is NOT that there aren't trained people in this country. OF COURSE THERE ARE. The issue is that companies DO NOT WANT TO PAY Americans the benefits and salaries that they can AVOID with foreign workers. And I've already written about this before, insourcing is also a SCAM that some OUTSOURCING companies use to train their workers in the US, then bring them BACK to their original country, where those people have jobs in outsourcing companies.
