$14 Million Tax Surplus: Once Again Governor, Legislators Let Down the People of Texas

14 June 2007 at 4:12:00 PM

Legislators didn't let the door hit them leaving the Capitol on their way home!
Hey, Texans!  Don't wait for the legislative "cavalry" to arrive at the "nick o' time" to save you from foreclosing on your home or having to sell it quickly and for less money.
They said they know homeowners are hurting.  They knew that thousands of Texans are without jobs.  They promised to give our children a better public education.
So, what happened?
The Office of the Comptroller publicly acclaimed that Texans overpaid taxes by a total whopping $14 million!
Gov. Perry and legislators could have provided taxpayers with a refund, or they could have used some of that money to give some quick relief to overburdened homeowners, or diverted some of that to public education, they could have used some to build and repair roads instead of tolling them --- but noooooo!
Fact is they "could of", but they didn't do diddley!
All they did was to make promises again to relieve our economic pain at some long distant, future date --- to be determined at another future date.  Why don't they just shoot us now and put us out of THEIR misery?
Aren't y'all sick of legislative promises?  Don't y'all just want to kick Perry in his tailored britches?  Don't y'all want to replace deadwood with kindling firewood?  Don't we deserve a "guvnor" who gives a damn about the people instead of his special interest cohorts?  Well, don't cha?
