Speaker only one safe in Texas from legislature?

Who is protecting the people of Texas?

House Speaker Tom Craddick played another hand of legislative Texas Hold'em [poker] and again "beat the pants off" House Representatives who wanted to bring the speaker's career to an end in another not-well-thought-out coup attempt.  Whether you like his or not, you have to admire Craddick's bulldog tenacity and dictatorial style.  It has served him well over the last several years as House Speaker.
Texas taxpayers should be awarded the same legal "end-arounds" that are provided to lawmakers; however, it's unfortunate that the people of Texas are not protected from legislative actions as well as was Craddick last night.  One is reminded of another such individual who has outlasted decades of attempts by the U.S. to end his rule and that individual is none other than Cuba's Fidel Castro.  After years of countless coup attempts, including former President Kennedy's infamous Bay of Pigs attempt, Castro remained Cuba's leader.
Governor Perry also is provided legal cover in that he won reelection with only 39-percent of the total votes (Texas law doesn't require a run-off as do other states) and also that Texas has no impeachment process for its highest state office.  Both of these issues work for the governor and not the people.
It is apparent that Texans still are at the mercy of lawmakers at the state Capitol and are trying to survive pro-toll road plans (SB792), the highest home insurance premiums anywhere else in the nation. sky-high property taxes, the increasing of deregulated electric costs, and the exorbitant deregulated costs of higher education tuition.
As sure as there are death and taxes, Craddick is not finished with other coup attempts.  Will the next one succeed?
