Where's Billy the Kid Buried? Hamilton, Texas Denies Request to Have Brushy Bill Exhumed

Heh. Whenever we go west through New Mexico, we go through the town that claims to have Billy the Kid buried there. And SO DOES HAMILTON, TEXAS. There's been some talk about digging up Brushy Bill and running a DNA test on the body, but the Hamilton court nixed that.

This was the second meeting in a row for the council to discuss the exhumation of the body. Last month, Steven M. Sederwall made the request, telling the council that he was a deputy with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in New Mexico and was seeking the DNA sample as part of an investigation of a murder that took place in New Mexico almost 130 years ago.
After a lengthy discussion, the council requested Sederwall to produce substantiating evidence as to his identity as a deputy and the validity of the investigation.

The controversy all revolves around whether Sheriff Pat Garrett actually killed Billy the Kid at Pete Maxwell’s Ranch in 1881 or whether the real kid escaped to live a long life with the final years spent in Hamilton and Hico, as Bill Roberts claimed
