Nuclear Power Plant News O Day-ANOTHER Reactor Safety Breach at Tokyo Electric

Tokyo Electric has already been taking it on the chin for deliberately concealing unlawful acts with the operation of their nuclear power plant. Well, here's another one to add to the list of over 100 200, 10,000 cases. Look what they did, this was no, excuse the pun, accident.

Tokyo Electric operated the No. 4 reactor at its Fukushima Daini power station using equipment without government approval, the Tokyo-based company said in a statement today. In 1988, Tokyo Electric replaced control rods at the plant with new ones that had not undergone government inspection.

Tokyo Electric asked Hitachi Ltd., which supplies the rods, to punch the same serial number on the replacement rods as on the old ones to hide the fact they were new, according to Tokyo Electric's statement.

``The control rod maker got involved in the cover up, but details of the event nearly 20 years ago are uncertain,'' Yoshida said.
