18 February 2007 at 10:57:26 AM

In a second post today or tomorrow, I will be putting up audio and some selected video of the event. Huge success-there were attendees from four different counties, Somervell, Bosque, Hamilton and Hood, not to mention the speaker's counties of Erath, Mills/Lampasses, Wise and Robertson. Everyone came to hear the great talks being given by:

Dale Henry, Lampasses, Texas. Dale is a retired Petroleum Engineer and a registered Engineer in the state of Texas. Dale splke on the importance of design, drilling, cementing, testing, monitoring and maintenance of oil and gas waste disposal wells in protecting the underground water aquifers from contamination. Dale served as Chairman of Fox Crossing Water district in Mills County for 15 years. Dale was a candidate for Texas Railroad Commission in the recent state-wide election.

Lionel Milberger, Robertson County. Lionel is a resident of Wimberly. He retired a couple of years ago with more than 35 years experience in the area of measurements in the design and testing of oil field drilling and production equipment. Lionel has a Bachelor of Science degree and a master's degree from Texas A&M. He is the holder of 58 US patents along with numerous foreign patents. Since retirement, he and his wife have experience with the effects of gas drilling in Robertson County, Texas which has caused them to move from their home.

Bill Gordon, Erath County. Bill is a retired Manufacturing Engineer with 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry and has been active in local issues concerning oil and gas waste disposal/injection wells in Erath County and their impact on the environment and our underground drinking water supply. Bill discussed oil and gas waste disposal activities that have transpired in Erath County since January, 2006. He also discussed "where do we go from here" as Erath County currently has three disposal wells pending RRC hearings. Bill was elected to serve as the first President of the newly formed group "Erath County Citizens for Clean Water".

Jim Popp, Greenwood, Texas. Jim is a Wise County businessman and Rancher and serves as the Chairman, Board of Directors, for the Wise County Citizens Group "Texas Citizens for a Safe Future and Clean Water". Jim spoke on the Barnett Shale natural gas drilling activities in Wise County and the problems associated with waste disposal wells. Jim covered the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) hearing process that his group has experienced, while opposing oil and gas waste disposal wells in Wise County.
