Tomorrow-Footage from the NTCOG meeting in Springtown, Texas about the Outer Loop in Parker County

7 February 2007 at 11:59:05 PM

I'm watching some video that was recorded tonight and alternately shaking my head or laughing or applauding the citizens who spoke up against this. Too late to get this in shape tonight, but will put up video and some photos tomorrow.

Here's what I don't understand. Truly. IF the NTCOG (North Texas Council of Governments) is a voluntary organization for counties that choose to join their organization (and as far as I can see on their website, Parker County is not part of that now), then how the heck does it have authority to SPEAK for TxDot? Both speakers showed extensive maps of the proposed lands and counties that the toll road will go through (after, of course, scarfing up people's property for the TOLL road), and they were TXDot maps. Why? One of the speakers talked as "We will be doing this and We will be doing that, We will take your land", but really, what authority do they have? They're not the Texas Legislature or Rick Perry that foisted this crap on us on the sneak. I know they managed to get the loop around DFW altered to be the way THEY Wanted instead of how, presumably Cintra, the company from Spain that will be leasing the road and profiting from it, so they have clout in some fashion. But WHY?
