Gas Leak in Franklin (Robertson County, Texas) Prompts Evacuation - Conoco Phillips

Not just from the standpoint of detailing that gas is not without its problems, but also because of the conversation I had recently with a Robertson County resident am I mentioning this.

A gas leak near Franklin forced the evacuation of a handful of area residents on Friday.

According to Robertson County officials, gas began spewing from a Conoco Phillips natural gas well around 9 a.m during routine maintenance.

As a precautionary measure, residents in the immediate area were evacuated.

I wrote before about how Robertson County residents are suing a gas refinery due to its emissions. One of these is called the Lagrange Franklin Treating plant but is actually run by Conoco Phillips. Its location is in Franklin, south on Hty 46 on the west side of the road. That's the same direction as the Conoco Phillips gas leak mentioned above... is the gas leak actually at the gas processing plant? The article does call it a *plant* so I believe they may be the same. The resident also told me recently that there is a second gas processing plant in the works.  (Reminder that we have one close to us, in Hood County just over the Somervell County line.). I've also heard that there is another gas processing plant south of Tolar, but I haven't gone looking for it.

P.S. My friend from Franklin says that, despite the article saying it was the plant, it was a gas well, however very close to the gas plant. He believes there are still problems at the well, including CUDD and Wild Well Control.

Pretty sad when you have to evacuate your home.
