As noted here before, in a blurb by Bill Gordon, MTGCD (Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District), after ousting Boyd Waggoner, decided to cut off public comment from the meetings which are SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THE CITIZENS OF ERATH AND COMANCHE COUNTIES. Oh, it's not that they don't have public comment at all, but you had to ASK and it was AFTER the board members discussed AND VOTED ON measures. So one imagines that they liked the public whistling in the wind.
But the *Worried About Water* group was not to be deterred. They RAISED HECK about that decision, even though Rodney Stephens of MTGCD said allowing citizens to speak was "getting into a big circus" (Methinks he has a foolishly high opinion of himself). ... and MTGCD has
“The MTGCD has always allowed people to speak at our meetings,” said Joe Cooper, general manager of the MTGCD. “We have moved ‘Public Comment’ to the front of our agenda to accommodate those who feel better served by being heard early rather than late during our meetings.”
In a note to the Smiths, Cooper said “Worried about Water” will be included during public comment at the first of “our December 7th Board Meeting Agenda.”
“We will allow Worried about Water five minutes for a presentation by a single speaker. Other public comments will be limited to two minutes,” Cooper said in the note.
