Not that being a Rich Son of a Gun Has Disqualified ANY Politician, But Wow! Van Taylor (West, Texas) Lived Upscale

28 October 2006 at 12:18:01 AM

I don't know what his home looks like in West, Texas, but I noticed, as per the floor resolution by Craddick that Taylor's address was in Dallas. before he moved to West. Being curious, and knowing that he's a Trust Fund Baby through his Exxon-Mobil Heir mama, I wondered what the homes are like in his previous zip code, 75209.

Wow! Bluffview Estates and his home that he moved from was appraised, according to Dallas County public records at $1,226,370 -Yes, that's MILLION. He did manage to make a profit on it when he sold it, according to this website -$1,895,250 for 6,259 square feet, plus he had a pool and detached servants quarters.(Bluffview is in the same neck of the woods as Preston Hollow, Highland Park, etc., )

Forbes Magazine says this about Bluffview

Dallas is known for many things: oil riches, a storied football team, a presidential assassination, wide-open spaces, cattle and a certain long-running television series.

What doesn't immediately come to mind, however, are the city's moneyed suburbs. The northern area of Dallas is home to enclaves such as University Park and Highland Park (collectively called The Park Cities), as well as Bluffview and Preston Hollow

Bluffview was once a dairy farm. But in the 1920s, a developer bought 215 acres of land just a half-dozen miles from downtown Dallas and began divvying it up into large parcels, according to Preservation Dallas, a local preservation organization. At the time, Bluffview Estates, named for a high bluff over Bachman Creek, was the northernmost suburb of the city--certainly not the case today. Dallas tried to annex it in 1940, and after three years, succeeded.

The neighborhood was laid out in a way that respected the rolling topography, so Bluffview has narrow, curving roads and small lakes that add to its peaceful air. Mature trees line the streets, and the houses are a mix of estates and cottages that date from the 1920s to today. The average home value in Bluffview is a little over $1 million,

I look forward to the day when an average person of middle class or poor income is able to run for office, rather than rich elites- especially those who start out on Country Club drive in Midland, Texas, and then live in an almost 2 million dollar home in a rich burb in Dallas, and only move to West.... to run for office.
