Vote for Dale Henry to be Texas Railroad Commissioner -Work Horse Not a Show Pony

You may think this has something to do with railroads but no... it has EVERYTHING to do with oil and gas drilling, energy and oil field cleanups-in other words, it MATTERS who you vote for.

This position, elected statewide for a six-year term, has nothing to do with railroads but everything to do with energy, oil drilling and oil field clean-ups. One of the three commission seats is before voters every other year. This year it is the seat held by Elizabeth Ames Jones, a Republican appointed to the commission last year by Gov. Rick Perry.

Jones, 49, is a former state legislator from San Antonio whose family is in the oil and gas business. She is serving as chairwoman of the commission this term and campaigning on her record as a steward of natural resources and her concern for the environment. Jones' 18 months on the commission has been low key.

Her Democratic opponent is Dale Henry, 75, a former oil field contractor and one-time Republican member of the Mills County commissioners court. Henry also ran for a seat on the Railroad Commission in 2004 as a Republican, but says he is in fact a Democrat.

The Statesman endorsed Jones but AAS has no credibility since they also endorsed Todd Staples who not only is FOR the Trans Texas Corridor but sponsored the bill! Enough of the Rick Perry cronies.

I met Dale Henry at the Multi-County Erath Democratic Showcase (Here's video of what he said there).

Here's his resume from an article earlier this year.

HENRY: "I am a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. I served two years of active duty in the US Air Force and received an honorable discharge as a First Lieutenant. I then served 14 years in the Air Force Reserve.

I had a long career with Dow Chemical in the field working in the cementing and acidizing divisions and in their Research and Development groups working with materials and chemicals to enhance the productivity of oil and gas wells. I applied and received two patents during this time.

After working for Dowell Schlumberger and Gearhart Owen stateside and worldwide, in the field, training, sales and management, I returned home to Texas from the Dowell Schlumberger home offices in Paris, France, and formed my own company and was an independent oil field contractor.

I was active in forming the Fox Crossing Water District of Mills County and served as president for fourteen years. I was also elected as the County Commissioner of Mills County, serving one term before devoting my full time efforts as a member of Senate Bill I Region "K" Lower Colorado River Regional Water Planning Group to plan for quality and quantity water for the present and future generations of Texans.

I have the background and experience to be your Railroad Commissioner. I would be honored to have the opportunity to use this experience for all Texans.

I notice that he was a Republican before but believes the Republican party has moved too far to the right.
