On the District 58 House Race- Reminder that Greg Kaufman is AGAINST the Trans Texas Corridor

21 October 2006 at 1:26:13 PM

It's not my district, but in adjoining Johnson and Bosque Counties. I heard Rob Orr speak at the Cleburne TTC meeting in the summer, and he said he was against the TTC AS IT STOOD BECAUSE OF THE ROUTE. Well, NOW the route has been changed to do a doughnut around DFW and I'll bet he's salivating at being a part of taking people's land for it.

I'll bet if one of you constituents who are in his district ASK him if he will STOP it now he'd give you a different answer.

Kaufman is also for funding our state parks, which Republicans under Perry have been gutting.

Kauffman said he would work to resolve education funding problems if elected. He said the Legislature’s recent funding bill did not adequately fund education. Kauffman vowed to fight for a wider-based tax support for education to eliminate the property-tax supported system.

Kauffman said he would also fight to fully fund the state parks and expand funding for child and adult protective services. He spoke of the inefficiency from understaffed and overworked agencies such as Child Protective Services.

Kauffman said he would oppose the Trans Texas Corridor, a massive highway and rail system that would transect Texas from south to north through North Central Texas.

“Orr and the legislature failed the voters,” Kauffman said when asked why voters should make a change. “They didn’t provide adequate school funding or provide real property-tax relief. He’s also not a strong advocate for Johnson and Bosque counties.”
