Looks like the Republican National Committee Doesn't Think Van Taylor (US House Dist 17 Race, Texas) Can Win it

Heh. It's not just that Chet Edwards has more money, but look at how PALTRY the cash in hand is for Van Taylor.

In District 17, US Rep. Chet Edwards, a Democrat from Waco, reports $1.1 million in cash on hand.

Republican challenger Van Taylor reports $102, 500 in cash.

That tells me that this is ONE race that Van Taylor's pal Tom Reynolds doesn't want to put money into, because they don't believe he can win it. After all, they're cutting off money for other races, including Mike DeWine of Ohio.

The decision to effectively write off Mr. DeWine’s seat,[from Ohio] after a series of internal Republican polls showed him falling behind his Democratic challenger, is part of a fluid series of choices by top leaders in both parties as they set the strategic framework of the campaign’s final three weeks, signaling, by where they are spending television money and other resources, the Senate and House races where they believe they have the best chances of success.

Along that same line, I've again gotten two more mailbox flyers from Chet Edwards, and ZERO from Van Taylor. The first one is about how Van Taylor owns up to 2.6 million dollars worth of pharmaceutical stocks, with the tag line "Ever wondered why Van Taylor is against allowing seniors to seek cheaper drugs from Canada?".. and "Do the Drug Companies Really Need Another Congressmen?" The second flyer is about social security; Van Taylor, being a Bushbot, is FOR Bush's failed Social Security privitization scheme and said he'd vote for it if elected with the line "It's disappointing Van Taylor would deliberately try to mislead seniors for personal gain".
