Annoying! TxDOT to randomly pull over drivers in Central Texas- to take a survey

Could TxDOT be any MORE intrusive? I read last month, about the toll road opening on 121 near Lewisville, that TxDOT tried to get people to take surveys and dang it, the people just wouldn't TELL TxDOT their business. So it looks like TxDOT *heads* got together and decided to set up *survey stations*. There you'll be, minding YOUR own business driving around somewhere in Central Texas and someone (who? a cop?) will come up behind you and wave you into a special section where you'll be asked to cough up

the model and year of vehicles, their mileage, the county the occupants are from, where they spent the night and how long they stayed, among other details.

But not your name. Oh, no, that would be TOO much information.

First up will be a survey station near Mart, Texas. IT IS THE ONLY ONE YOU WILL BE WARNED ABOUT.

The department rolls out its first survey station this morning on State Highway 164 near Mart, along the border between McLennan and Limestone counties. After that first promotional survey site, officials will change locations to various sites around the two-county area without notifying the public in advance, Roberts said.

“We are not revealing the locations in order to get a more accurate survey,” he said. “We don’t want people going out of their way because they know where we are, so we won’t spend too long at any location.”

I'll tell you what. It is NONE of TxDot's business what I do on the road, what county I am from or where I'm going. If I get pulled over, I am going to tell them to MYOB, and then keep going. Well, they're going to force me to sit behind the line of cars of people in front of me in the survey station who are gullible enough to want to tell TxDot their biz.

Especially since, as I suspect, they're trying to get this survey done to see if they can make a TOLL ROAD out of the location. Why else would they care?
