Middle Trinity Ground Water Conservation District Is For Contamination of Ground Water

20 September 2006 at 8:38:16 PM

from *commercial* gas wells and oil wells. If you live anywhere near Dublin and can show up tomorrow, and care about ground water contamination, here's info about a meeting.

From Bill Gordon of Erath County:

Boyd Waggoner, Chairman of the Board for the Middle Trinity Ground Water Conservation District (MTGCD), serving Erath and Comanche Counties, is trying to protect and conserve our groundwater from depletion in times of a serious drought and from contamination from "commercial" oil and gas waste disposal wells.

Four of the six MTGCD Board members have stated publicly that they do not agree with Waggoner and they want to remove him as Chairman of the Board.

A special meeting will be held at the Dublin, Texas, City Hall, tomorrow, September 21, 10:00 AM, for the purpose of removing Waggoner as Chairman.

I am encouraging any one that cares about conserving and protecting our groundwater to attend the meeting in Dublin tomorrow to support Boyd Waggoner in remaining as Chairman and most of all to send a message to the MTGCD board members, that we want them to do what we elected them for – please PROTECT and CONSERVE our groundwater.

If you can’t attend the meeting, please call the board members and voice your opinion. Their names and phone numbers can be found in the article below.

See article "MTGCD - Friend or Foe?" at:

Please pass this on to others who might be interested – especially to the residents of Timber Lakes and Ranch View Subdivisions who will most likely be the first to see a drop in the Trinity Aquifer water level due to the recently approved permit to allow a single Erath County individual to sell 136 million gallons of groundwater per year to the oil and gas industry for profit - when we have reports of water wells going dry all around us.

Concerned citizens in Erath, Hamilton, Hood, Comanche, Wise, Parker, Tarrant, Somervell, and Cooke Counties.  Some of these counties are considering establishing Groundwater Conservation Districts to protect and conserve their drinking water.
