I still have plans to make the blog into a subsidiary of a new forum. Looks like it will take longer to get the new forum up and running than i anticipated. I love the looks of Discourse but, being a Windows person, would have somewhat of a learning curve to install (or compile) on Linux with Ubuntu. I believe I understand the general process, of creating a container under Docker and then running the container under a VM, but baby steps. I don't use Linux, although I took a course in it some years back and I think based on the fact that operating systems are a general type, AND that I taught Microsoft server architecture at the OSI layer levels before, that i could figure it out. In the last 5 years, I've also learned some php and am using a MySQL backend for a different project. So, we'll see. All that to say that I have some fixes I could probably spend time and do on the blog but, heck, I've had it running since 2005 and I'm ready for a change.
There is ONE Democrat who is running for office for Somervell County Commissioner Precinct 2. Judy Nawrocki. In order to vote for Judy or any other race at the state or national level in which there are two candidates, you MUST vote in the Democratic primary and CANNOT vote in the Republican primary. Of course that changes for the general, when there will be a Democrat, and a Republican and possibly other parties, such as Independent, Green, etc. For me, I'm only voting for Democrats, I want the Republicans to become the minority party.
Beto O 'Rourke will get my vote
Haven't looked closely at the Dem candidates running against Greg Abbott.
Trump Whack O Day
Trump torpedoes his own administration's position on FISA
During a week in which President Trump called himself a “very stable genius,” he has once again proved that the White House he inhabits is not a particularly stable place — thanks to him.
In a tweet Thursday morning, Trump called into question his own administration's position on the reauthorization of a program that allows the government to conduct foreign surveillance on U.S. soil, also known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Amendments Act of 2008.Less than 11 hours before the tweet, though, the White House reiterated its position in favor of said reauthorization and against an effort on behalf of libertarian-leaning members of Congress to limit its powers — an amendment known as “USA Rights.”
The article goes on to note it's probably because Trump was watching Fox and Friends
One more artice on this from Daily Beast
On Wednesday night, a White House statement urged Congress to preserve FISA powers. Yet Trump apparently took to his phone just a few hours later, writing, “‘House votes on controversial FISA ACT today.’ This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?”
Why was there an exception made for Florida to bypass off-shorre drilling?
