Ruminations of the Easily Amused for 11/5/2015

5 November 2015 at 10:33:37 AM

Had a wonderful day yesterday and today is pretty great too, with all the rain. The chick (I think it's a rooster) that hatched out a few weeks ago is being kept INSIDE the chicken yard until it gets feathers.

Rick Perry apparently tried to influence an investigation in Oklahoma when he was governor.

Frische’s memo also sheds light on who prompted Perry’s interest in the case.

“Lyle … discovered that the doctor had a benefactor by the name of Dick Powell who was very wealthy, a significant contributor to Rick Perry and also a surrogate father to the doctor and that he was behind the effort to get rid of this,” Frische wrote.

Dick Powell is Richard C. Powell of Knoxville, Tenn. Records list him as an officer in a Texas company that owns a Fort Worth IHOP and officer of a Tennessee restaurant company.

Powell contributed $2,500 to Perry’s presidential campaign in 2011, the maximum allowed. He was a member of the Perry campaign’s Tennessee finance team.

Powell’s links to Anagnost, who also contributed $2,500 to Perry’s presidential campaign in 2011, are not so apparent. Powell did not respond to requests for comment.

Not surprised that the Texas Railroad Commission sides with oil and gas against quakes.

The Texas Railroad Commission has officially cleared two oilfield companies of responsibility for earthquakes that rattled two North Texas towns — despite research suggesting otherwise.

In a unanimous vote Tuesday, the three-Republican panel agreed with examiners for the regulatory agency who found no concrete evidence linking wastewater disposal wells drilled by Houston-based EnerVest and ExxonMobil subsidiary XTO Energy to the burst of seismic activity that riled up residents in Reno and Azle from late 2013 through early 2014.

More than two-dozen mini earthquakes during that period shook towns atop North Texas’ gas-rich Barnett Shale, putting pressure on regulators to address fears that oil and gas activities — namely disposal wells, deep resting places for liquid oil and gas waste — had triggered those and other temblors across the state.

Smart Guns-what a GREAT idea!

Department of Defense (DOD) has been paying for millitary displays at football games. Oh, did you think that the NFL did that on their own because they were patriotic? Patriotic as hell with CASHOLA.
